The Power of One
// April 6th, 2009 // Life, Service
I know I’ve covered this but this has been such a reoccuring theme in my life lately. I had the opportunity to see Israel Houghton perform with Chris Tomlin last Friday and amidst some phenomenal worship songs and amazing stories of divine intervention, his title track “Power of One” stole the show. No matter how small you feel, no matter how insignificant how you are serving may seem, SERVE! One person can make a difference. One act, no matter how small, can change things. We are called to do what we are able.
If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
- Mother Teresa
Let God worry about your impact. Focus on the process and let him control the outcome. When Israel started writing “Power of One”, it was for someone else. He wasn’t planning on recording it. He wasn’t planning on recording anything. He was focused on live music and leading worship. God used that one song to create a movement that led to an entire album, a national tour with Chris Tomlin, changed livesĀ and who knows what else God has planned. When God starts to move, grab on and hold on for the ride. Thats what Israel did and God is using him to do some awesome things.
What if it all depended on me to change the world, to change the world? What if my only responsibility was to change the world, change the world? Let me be the one to start a revolution. Let me sing my song to people of the world. It all begins with one. The power of one. Join in the hundreds of millions of people believing in one. The power of one. Don’t hang around. Stand up or sit down and believe we can change the world together. We can change the world together.
- Israel Houghton
Oh, and I don’t think this theme is going away. I don’t really care if I’m writing about the same thing over and over again.

Love it too! So powerful!
Just stumbing through… thought that I would say, no need to say sorry about following your heart. I heard a man, Arthur Blessitt, talk last night at church about a 40 year journey to carry a cross in every country, region and island in the world. He is now 68 or 69 and has talked to so many lives and brought so many people to Christ. It really is amazing to see. This is one man walking across the globe. One man talking to one person – and inviting them to experience His love.
Awesome right? Thanks Stacia
I love this blog. Cool interview too.
I love your blog. Keep writing!
And thank you.
Thanks for stopping by Michael. It is awesome to think about the impact that one person can have and if every person he reached, touched one more person…
