I broke my wrist 30 some years ago. It never recovered the strength. So my hand writing looks nice for about a paragraph, then a chicken scratch for a couple more. By the end of that time, my wrist hurts so bad, I stop. So, I've taken to "writing" everything by computer/keyboard.

In my head.

I hate even doing drafts, I just write it in my head then sit down and type it.

I'm getting better at forcing myself to go back and edit, but it's just not in my personality!

I use both, actually. My head usually moves a lot faster than my pen, so a keyboard comes in handy. But whenever I get stuck I go straight to paper, and for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Agreed, when I've got that fire, give me a computer. However, when I'm pondering, a pen will do fine.

I think if I viewed it as work I'd probably just type it since it is more efficient. But since so many people bloggers started as journalers and their blog is an extension of that it makes some sense. When I'm passionate about something and the ideas are coming fast and furious, I definitely prefer typing. When I'm trying to flesh something out and but myself in a posture to write something, pen and paper does the trick. I tend not to edit...

I'm a keyboarder. The whole reason journaling never worked for me was the tiresome writing. That, and I couldn't read my writing when I was finished.

That is exactly how I feel! Writing it down takes so long compared to typing it out, right as I am feeling it!

Wow...I'm sorta surprised how many people use pen and paper for blog posts. I would have thought more people would have tended to use the computer. Personally, I like to write by hand, but I can type much faster than I can write, and when I'm passionate about something I like to get all of it down as quickly as possible. I love to see big-picture thoughts in front of me before I return to refine them, and if I write by hand I'm too tired by the time I'm finished to return to my work.

Interesting the contrast though. Seems like a lot of people say the emotional/serious stuff is on paper. I've tried journaling on the computer. I just can't do it. I feel the same way about posts that are really more like journal entries. Although, the trust post was typed.

I'm a mix. Which is interesting because I always typed everything in college and I've never been much of a journaler.
