Paper or Plastic?

A question for all my fellow bloggers:
Do you write your posts on the computer or on paper and then type them up?
For me, there is just something about pen and paper that sets my soul a little freer than a keyboard. Maybe it is the removal of distractions, but somehow it just feels right. However, I don’t really have a method. Some of my more honest posts have come via the keyboard.

Most of the time, I compose my blog directly at the keyboard.
I do keep a journal in my purse where I write about something I might find particularly moving, but I can't think of any time that later transfered well to a post.
I may jot some things down in my notebook if I'm out running errands or something to remind myself for later, but I write everything on the computer.
I write poems longhand on ruled tablets, through the complete drafting process (over and over again). Then I type them on Word. I'll write some articles first inlong hand, if I'm trying to achieve a certain level of emotion (don't ask me why; is a puzzlement). I type most articles directly in Word.
I use the computer. I think the idea of pen and paper is great… but sadly it takes more time, which I don't have.
I've always journaled longhand and because of that, my most heartfelt stuff usually hits paper first. But on occasion, I'll be sitting at the computer, get inspired, and just go ahead and type it. Whichever I have when the inspiration hits.
Serious posts always written in long hand, with a fancy fountain pen in a very fancy writing pad. Makes me feel writerly. Silly posts? Computer all the way.
I honestly didn't realize how much I don't use pen/paper for my blog until now. All of my articles are written in Google Docs or directly in WordPress. If I ever was away from my computer and wanted to jot something down real quick, it's to the "Notes" app I go. Sermon notes however are all pen/paper. Surely there must be some underlying reason for this. (and don't call me Shirley)
Mostly computer but jot down random notes I write when I'm not around one. But there's nothing like a smooth blank page and brand new Parker .5 roller ball to really get my journal on. Love that photo up there.
Hmmm, interesting to hear how everybody differs. So often blog posts are like a journal and I can't really journal at the keyboard. Something about being able to change what I wrote just doesn't seem right.
I can do it at the computer when the moment is right, when I just get in the zone. But if I'm forcing it, has to be pen and paper.
I don't know why either but there seems to be a theme not just for you of there being more emotion in the writing.
That is pretty much exactly how I feel.
Haha, all about efficiency
Is that way I don't get serious posts nearly awesome enough? Really interesting that so many people agree that the serious/slash emotional stuff gets written. My trust post I typed but I would say that is odd.
I'm a mix. Which is interesting because I always typed everything in college and I've never been much of a journaler.
Interesting the contrast though. Seems like a lot of people say the emotional/serious stuff is on paper. I've tried journaling on the computer. I just can't do it. I feel the same way about posts that are really more like journal entries. Although, the trust post was typed.
Wow…I'm sorta surprised how many people use pen and paper for blog posts. I would have thought more people would have tended to use the computer. Personally, I like to write by hand, but I can type much faster than I can write, and when I'm passionate about something I like to get all of it down as quickly as possible. I love to see big-picture thoughts in front of me before I return to refine them, and if I write by hand I'm too tired by the time I'm finished to return to my work.
That is exactly how I feel! Writing it down takes so long compared to typing it out, right as I am feeling it!
I’m a keyboarder. The whole reason journaling never worked for me was the tiresome writing. That, and I couldn’t read my writing when I was finished.
I think if I viewed it as work I'd probably just type it since it is more efficient. But since so many people bloggers started as journalers and their blog is an extension of that it makes some sense. When I'm passionate about something and the ideas are coming fast and furious, I definitely prefer typing. When I'm trying to flesh something out and but myself in a posture to write something, pen and paper does the trick. I tend not to edit…
Agreed, when I've got that fire, give me a computer. However, when I'm pondering, a pen will do fine.
I use both, actually. My head usually moves a lot faster than my pen, so a keyboard comes in handy. But whenever I get stuck I go straight to paper, and for exactly the reason you mentioned.
In my head.
I hate even doing drafts, I just write it in my head then sit down and type it.
I'm getting better at forcing myself to go back and edit, but it's just not in my personality!
I broke my wrist 30 some years ago. It never recovered the strength. So my hand writing looks nice for about a paragraph, then a chicken scratch for a couple more. By the end of that time, my wrist hurts so bad, I stop. So, I've taken to "writing" everything by computer/keyboard.
